Scientific Name Varanus komodoensis
Range Komodo & other islands, Central Indonesia
Status Endangered
Comments Largest and most aggressive lizard species at approximately 6.5' - 10' in length with an approximate weight of 150 lbs. It's saliva contains highly septic bacteria. Due to it's threatened status in the wild Indonesia's Komodo National Park was founded in 1980 to aid in it's protection.
